Top all-round reads:
The Snowman by Raymond Briggs (Picture Puffin, £5.99)
What could remind us more of Christmas than this magical story about a boy whose snowman comes to life? Children – and their nostalgic parents - will love the idea of flying through the air to meet Father Christmas. Beautifully illustrated, this deserves the term “classic.”
The Jolly Christmas Postman (Viking Kestrel Picture Books) by Allan Ahlberg and Janet Ahlberg (Hardback: £12.99)
Remembering this book brought out cries of delight in the Supernanny office! It's an real treasure - full of surprises, clever, funny and entertaining.
It’s Christmas Eve, and the Jolly Postman has all sorts of things to deliver – including something for baby bear and a get well jigsaw for the poor hospitalized Humpty Dumpty. If you haven’t read this before, you’re in for a real treat.
Father Christmas by Raymond Briggs (Picture Puffin, £5.99)
Father Christmas awakes to find that it’s Christmas Eve and he has to start delivering all those presents. Great fun, and, as with The Snowman, wonderfully illustrated too.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr Seuss (Harper Collins, £4.99)
Now why would the Grinch do a thing like that? The brilliant, zany rhymes and instantly recognisable Dr Seuss illustrations make this a classic.
For younger readers:
Mog's Christmas by Judith Kerr (Harper Collins, £5.99)
Mog wonders what’s going on with all the strange happenings in the house. Instead she escapes to the roof – until she returns, with quite a bump!
We love Mog, and this fun Christmas adventure is sure to be enjoyed by Mog fans, young and old!
