So many of us get stuck reading the same books each night – and find ourselves driven mad reading the same words over and over again! Here are some new recommended stories, which should make bedtime reading a bit more fun!
Kitten’s first full moon by Kevin Henkes, Simon and Schuster, £5.99
Absolutely wonderful but simple story of a young kitten who mistakes the moon for a bowl of milk and tries desperately to get hold of it. Beautifully illustrated in black and white, this one has the feel of a classic about it.

I love you sleepyhead by Claire Freedman and Simon Mendez, Little Tiger Press, £10.99
This wonderfully illustrated book is a delight. Written to be shared by Mums and their little ones, it is all about different animals preparing for bed – and watched by their mothers. A very special book.

Bedtime for little bears by David Bedford and Caroline Pedler, Little Tiger Press, £10.99
A wonderfully illustrated tale of a young polar bear whose mum takes him for a walk to show him all the other animals getting ready for bed. The gorgeous illustrations are matched by a delightful text.

Sleepyhead by Karma Wilson and John Segal, Simon and Schuster, £5.99
A great read before bed, with a lovely sense of humour running through it. Far too many of us will be able to associate with the reader of the book, who is desperate for Sleepyhead to go to bed. Instead he wants just one more book, hug, kiss song…

By the light of the silvery moon by Claire Freedman and Stephen Gulbis, Little Tiger Press, £7.99
Little grey hare doesn’t want to go to sleep and goes to play with his friends in his moonlight. But they are soon tired out and ready for bed. Perfect for young children, and also appealing because of a little moon which lights up when you press it.

Oliver who would not sleep by Mara Bergman and Nick Maland, Hodder Children’s books , £10.99
Oliver Donnington Rimington-Sneep couldn’t and didn’t and would not sleep! But after he goes on a night-time adventure into space, even he can’t stay up all night! Beautifully illustrated and good fun. A great beginning.

Mungo and the Spiders from Space by Timothy Knapman and Adam Stower, Puffin, £5.99
A great space adventure for older children (3-5s), written with a lovely sense of humour. Kids will thoroughly enjoy the story of Mungo, who gets carried away (literally) by a book that his Mum finds for him at a jumble sale. They are also sure to like the excellent cartoon-like illustrations.

Tigers love to say goodnight by Sue Mongredien and Sebastien Braun, Orchard books, £10.99
A whole host of storybook characters get ready for bed - tidying their room, having bath, putting on their pyjamas - in this lovely story. Perfect for sharing together once the whole bedtime routine is finished and just a story awaits before sleeping.
