You and the kids will have great fun making these delicious gingerbread biscuits. Wrap them gently in tissue paper and put them in a box, and you'll have a home-made treat that the relatives are sure to enjoy.

To start....You'll need some cookie mix

Home-made cookie mixture:

(makes around 24 large cookies)

Preheat oven to 180°C.

In a bowl, mix together 220g flour, 115g sugar, 225g margarine or softened butter, 115g molasses, 1 egg, 1½ tsp ground cinnamon, 1 tsp ground ginger, 1 tsp ground cloves, ½ tsp ground nutmeg, 1 tsp baking powder, ½ tsp baking soda, ½ tsp salt.

Cover and chill in refrigerator for one hour. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface, use cutters to form cookie shapes and bake for eight to ten minutes until lightly browned.

Bake ready-made cookie dough as per packet instructions.

You’ll need…

• Use the icing bag of pale pink icing to create Santa's face in the centre of the cookie.

• Allow to dry before piping on his moustache, with a dot of red icing to form his nose and two dabs of black icing pen for his eyes.

Jolly snowman

• Mix icing. Set aside small portions to colour black, green and red.
• Cover the cookie in white icing and allow to dry.
• Pipe the black icing at the top of the cookie to form the Snowman’s hat (optional), eyes and smile.
• Pipe on some green icing to form his scarf.
• Pipe on some red icing to form his buttons (alternatively, use Smarties or M&Ms).

• Mix icing. Set aside half to colour brown. Set aside small portions or remaining icing to colour green and black.
• Cover the cookie in brown-coloured icing and allow to dry.
